It’s that time of year again! When the weather was just warm enough to justify a trip to Sturgeon Bay to take the shrink wrap off the boat. It was a chilly 36F, but it was all worth it! We had the cover off in no time with two people working.

We were happy to find no major issues from the somewhat harsh Wisconsin winter that we experienced this year. There was, however, a small tear in the material near the mast that allowed the shrink wrap to sag at the bow. We had to dispense with about 50 gallons of mucky water that had accumulated with the snow melt and rain. That’s a full bath tub’s worth of dirty water!

If you look just forward of the mast, you can see where all the water collected.

With all the work done that we could accomplish for this time of year. We gave the boat a quick look-over on the outside and headed below to make sure that everything was in order. Everything came back in great condition. No moisture to be found, no mold, and the bilge was bone dry (less the pink anti-freeze that we dumped in all the lines when we winterized her last year).

Job well done! We’ve done about all we can do for now. Once it gets a little warmer we will return to start the projects to prepare her for our little adventure. Time to head to the Red Room for an ice cold beer, a greasy cheeseburger, and some of the best fries I’ve ever had!!
