Tomorrow’s the big day! We go in the water at around 6:45am CST. Right now we’re hanging helplessly in the Marine TraveLift slings about 4ft off the ground.
We had a long day; and it’s still not done! A number of small projects had to get done today (aft locker organization system, water filtration system, organization of supplies, etc). The biggest project is still underway even as I type.
You all know that we re-painted the bottom of the boat recently. And tonight, I’ve got the awesome job of finishing all the pad spots from the cradle, under the keel, and the hull repair area (long story). Painting these areas will take about an hour at a crack, but they have to dry for 3 hours minimum between applications. The boat was put into the slings at 3pm. I finished the first coat at 4pm and the 2nd was applied at 7pm. One more to go tonight around 10-11pm depending on temperature/humidity. Should be interesting given the low-light/visibility here in the slings!
Oh, and my dad got the dinghy assembled, inflated, and partially cleaned too 🙂
The day still isn’t done, but we were presented with a beautiful sunset as a little reward as we wound down the projects for the night.

Thanks Sue and Art. We have already had some crazy adventures. My son and I hitch hiked back from a winery last night. His first time. We were successful and the driver was pretty good looking. I’ll tell you the rest of the story over a beer.
